Insurance Coverage Available to ALA Chapters
For many years now, ALA has provided chapters with general liability insurance and professional liability insurance at no cost. Fidelity Bond Insurance (Crime) and Event Cancellation Insurance has also been available for purchase by chapters in good standing.
Summaries of the coverage currently offered can be found in the Volunteer Handbook beginning on page 26.
We are excited to announce that, through our partnership with Marsh, we have expanded coverage options during the upcoming renewal cycle to include:
Computer Crime
Includes coverage for direct
loss of, or direct lost from damage to, money, securities and other property caused by computer fraud as well as restoration expenses, or replacement of damaged or destroyed computer programs or electronic data caused by computer violation.
Funds Transfer Fraud
Includes coverage for direct loss of money and securities contained in the insured’s transfer account caused by fund transfer fraud.
Social Engineering Fraud
Includes
coverage for direct loss from transferring, paying or delivering money as a result of the intentional misleading of the insured by a person purporting to be a vendor, client, employee or other authorized person through the use of a communication.
During a webinar on Wednesday, July 7, Regan Katz, Managing Director at Marsh, provided an overview of the coverages offered and answered questions from participants.

2012. She found a niche in the insurance industry with risk assessment specializing in professional fields, such as legal and hospitality. In addition to covering risk assessment, Katz has developed an expertise with professional liability and cyber
/ privacy topics. She has attained a level of knowledge such that professional organizations Claims & Litigation Management Alliance, American Bar Association and Professional Liability Underwriting Society ask her to speak at national conventions
on the aforementioned topics. Her dedication and exceptional sales abilities have led her to promotions within Marsh and she was elected a Managing Director in 2014 and became the Commercial Accounts Manager in 2017.
Katz has a BBA in Accounting and Spanish from Texas A&M University. She is a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter; Certified Risk Manager, and a Licensed Risk Management Professional.
