2024 Silent Auction FAQs

Why is it important to support the Foundation of the Association of Legal Administrators’ 2024 silent auction?

The Foundation is the charitable affiliate of ALA. Through our various initiatives, we support efforts both within the Association and our communities to improve the credibility and visibility of the legal management profession.

The proceeds of the Foundation’s silent auction continue to be the primary funding source for our programs and initiatives. Now in our 44th year, the Foundation has invested over a quarter-million dollars in grants, programs and sponsorships aligned with the Foundation's missions and goals — all through the support of ALA’s chapters, members and business partners.

How will the silent auction work this year?

We shifted to a fully virtual platform in 2020 and will once again host the silent auction virtually this year. We have changed the format to ensure everyone will be able to access and participate in the silent auction — whether or not they are able to personally attend the conference in Aurora, Colorado. Anyone will be able to browse the catalog of items available and submit a bid from anywhere using any device that has internet access.

When is the silent auction?

The auction will go live on May 13th and conclude on the final day of the Annual Conference on Wednesday, May 22nd at 1:00 p.m. Mountain.

What type of items will be in the Silent Auction?

The Foundation encourages anyone from chapters, business partners and members wishing to support the Foundation's mission to donate items such as:

  • Webinar access or subscriptions
  • Leadership and professional development workshops for groups (chapters or law firms) or individuals
  • Coaching/training sessions
  • Personal items like jewelry, luggage, etc.
  • Artwork
  • Electronics and personal tech gadgets
  • Gift cards
  • Items that represent your city or state

(NOTE: In light of various shipping restrictions, no alcoholic beverages, please.)

What is the process to donate an item or professional service?

Each prospective donor must submit a donation form by May 6 with a description of the item or professional service, along with a photo or scanned image of the item. The donor will hold the item until the conclusion of the silent auction and then send the item directly to the auction winner using the details provided by the Foundation. This process is the same for any individual, chapter or business partner who wishes to donate.
