ALA Master Class: Critical Skills for Legal Management Success

September 23–25, 2020
Loews Vanderbilt
Nashville, Tennessee

Note: Registration will be open in the spring. Check back for updates as the full conference schedule is released.

As the legal industry continues to experience significant and rapid changes, it is critical for leaders of law firms and other legal organizations to master complex executive leadership and management skills. This event will take a deep dive into critical skills that are vital to an attendee’s career, such as the following:

  • Effective business communication
  • Stress and conflict management
  • How to deal with change
  • Building influential relationships
  • Leading with authority and respect
  • Memory
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Motivating/engaging teams

Just like last year, each session will provide an interactive, deep dive on a topic with specific emphasis to ensure that attendees master each of these areas. There will be two general sessions along with several BOLD Bites sessions (similar to Ted Talks). You can tailor your remaining education between two tracks: the Personal Skills Track and the Firm-Wide track. The first provides insight on areas you need for your personal growth and the second provides you with skills to help your firm become a well-oiled machine.

Here is what an attendee had to say about last year's Leadership Master Class:

I love the new direction of the fall conference. I appreciate that this is no longer a "mini annual conference" but a deep dive that allows us to fully immerse ourselves in an area of interest, rather than jumping around from topic to topic. Great job in being forward-thinking and being fearless about making a change!
