Sending Our Condolences ALA is saddened by the recent passing of Joan Wean, who was an ALA member for 30 years and was actively involved in the Independence Chapter. She served as Chapter President from 1997–1998, chaired the chapter’s Membership Committee and was honored with ALA’s Outstanding Association Volunteer Award in 2005.
