Doug teaches Legal Ethics at the Northwestern University School of Law, and Insurance Law and a seminar on Liability Insurance Law at the University of Florida College of Law. He previously taught Trial Advocacy and Insurance Law at the University of Kansas School of Law, and Insurance Law and a seminar on Damages at the University of Missouri School of Law. Doug is also a regular NITA faculty member, teaching both deposition and trial skills.
Doug earned his J.D. at the University of Kansas, an M. Ed. from the University of Nebraska, and his B.S. from Fort Hays State University.

Catherine’s talk “The Science of Happiness” presents both surprising and not-so-surprising information on the science behind happiness. What role do money, marriage, friends, children, weather, age, and religion play in making us feel happier? Is happiness stable over time? How can happiness be increased?
Dr. Sanderson will describe cutting-edge research from the field of positive psychology on the factors that do (and do not) predict happiness and provide participants with practical (and relatively easy!) ways to increase their own psychological well-being.

Mark has consulted to law firms in the United States for more than 30 years. He began his consulting career at Price Waterhouse & Co where he served many of the largest law firms in New York City. During his years at Price Waterhouse he consulted on numerous accounting system implementations and performance improvement projects. While at Price Waterhouse he originated the Legal Tech Conference.
Mark left Price Waterhouse to begin the Professional Services Practice for Sibson & Co, an executive compensation firm. While at Sibson, he developed a unique 360-degree performance evaluation and partner performance management system that has been implemented at numerous Am Law firms.
Mark lead the Law Firm Consulting practice at Deloitte & Touche for nine years. While there he led strategy, merger & acquisition, performance improvement and partner compensation projects. Mark also led the first law firm administrative outsourcing projects in the United States.

Walker joined Nashville-based Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP, in 1977 and has helped grow Waller from 16 attorneys to more than 240 with 5 offices in 3 states. She has opened and closed locations; upgraded accounting systems numerous times; handled endless HR issues; negotiated leases for and built out almost 200,000 square feet of office space in various locations; been involved in every aspect of the firm’s technology for years; worked with the Board and been involved in every aspect of Waller’s Board operations for almost 40 years; worked with compensation systems at all levels; partnered with nine managing partners to keep Waller vibrant helping develop and implement strategic plans.
Currently, she is CEO of Tennessee Private Trust Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Waller, and is developing an additional subsidiary, Legal Solutions and Innovations, to be co-owned with Waller. Walker understands the value of servant leadership.
Walker is a Past President of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) completing a three-year term on its Executive Committee of its Board of Directors and a six-year term on the ALA Board. Walker assumed the ALA President role in May, 2015. She joined ALA’s Professional Development Advisory Committee in May, 2018, and is currently serving as its Vice Chair. She also belongs to ALA’s Large Firm Administrators Caucus, has served as a member of the Large Firm Administrators Steering and Education Committees, served as a Trustee of The Foundation of the Association of Legal Administrators, and was a member of the International Relations Committee of ALA. She is a Founding Member of the Middle Tennessee Association of Legal Administrators, which was chartered in 1980.
Inducted as a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management in 2014, Walker was selected in 2017 to join the College Board of Trustees and currently serves on the Executive Committee and as the College Treasurer. She is co-chairing the 2019 Futures Conference, which will be held in the fall of 2019. Walker also served on the LogicForce Advisory Board and co-founded the Juris Users Group. Walker was appointed to the Board of Global Legal Blockchain Consortium in July, 2018. She is also a member of the Waller team that established TokenizeTN, a nonprofit trade organization created with a vision to realize the full potential of emerging technologies to drive a new era in Tennessee. She later moved into business development and management with a leading legal staffing and recruiting organization, where she partnered with large firm marketing and practice development teams delivering e-discovery and managed services solutions. Today, she is the Executive Director of a boutique Estate Planning firm in Durham, NC, where she drives marketing, operations, and financial initiatives for the firm.

and strategic planning, essentially filling the roles of both COO and CFO. Prior to joining Herrick, George was a Director and Shareholder of Hildebrandt International, where he advised clients on economic and management issues including growth/M&A, dissolutions, crisis management, restructuring, and governance. Since 2002, he has served as a Director of Metropolitan Commercial Bank, which began publicly trading in 2017.
George holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Villanova University and has served in many leadership positions with the Association of Legal Administrators. George is chair of The Greg Wolf Fund, founded in memory of his son Greg, which supports research of blood cancers and provides aid to families faced with financial hardships while fighting the disease.
