ALA Announces New Executive Director

  • Sep 16

Chicago, Illinois — September 16, 2022 – On behalf of the Executive Director Search Committee and with the endorsement of the Board of Directors, the Association of Legal Administrators is excited to announce that Eryn Carter, CAE, will become its next Executive Director effective October 11.

Carter has more than 25 years of Association leadership experience — most recently as the Senior Director of Global Markets for the Million Dollar Roundtable, which has approximately 85,000 members in 80 countries.

“I have already learned a lot about ALA over the last several months, and what I have come to understand and appreciate is the deep commitment, pride and love the ALA community has for the organization,” says Carter. “As I come into the role of Executive Director, I am looking forward to carrying on the traditions and values that have served ALA so well for the last 50 years. I want to build on that with a vision for growth and a clear articulation and representation of ALA’s strategic priorities in new and innovative ways that will enable ALA, its members and business partners to feel a greater connection to the organization and its value proposition. I hope to mobilize the skills, talents and expertise of ALA’s members, staff and key stakeholders around goals that are oriented and aligned toward a common purpose.”

Carter is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology, and she has been a Certified Association Executive (CAE) since 2010. She is also a member of Association Forum of Chicagoland and is a founding member of Chief Chicago, which is a think tank and network for women executives.

“ALA is excited to begin this journey with Eryn as our new Executive Director,” says ALA President Sarah Evenson, JD, MBA. “Her colleagues and peers appreciate her ability to connect with members, staff and business partners. She has found remarkable success with growth in membership and non-dues revenue while maintaining a keen focus on strategy. We know that she will help guide ALA and move the organization forward.”
