ALA Senior Manager of Member Services, Teena Austin, was recently interviewed for an article in Associations Now. In the article titled, "New Frontiers: Why Associations Expand Their Horizons," author Mark Athitakis interviewed several association professionals regarding industries changing, what qualifies as a member and how some associations have found strength in greater engagement. Austin responded to ALA's change to allow consultant members - a new membership structure recommended and driven by the Membership Task Force. “Their perspective as people who are engaged at the top level in strategic thinking around the management of business of law, it’s a perspective our other members don’t often have access to,” she says.
