NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE — The Association of Legal Administrators’ (ALA) 2015 Annual Conference & Expo just wrapped up in Nashville, Tennessee. The event ran from Sunday, May 17, to Wednesday, May 20. The event hosted 1,200 attendees, more than 150 business partners representing nearly 200 booths, and speakers and legal industry experts covering every aspect of the business of law.
On Monday, May 18, keynote speaker, polar explorer and mountaineer Alison Levine inspired members through her stories of climbing expeditions and adventure. Levine offered practical, humorous advice on how to take risks, improve teamwork and deal with changing environments.
“Don’t let fear stop you from doing what you want to do,” says Levine. “Fear is OK; complacency will kill you.”
On Tuesday, May 19, keynote speaker and former NFL quarterback Tom Flick shared his insights on how leaders attract followers that are bound by a common vision, trust and the heartfelt sense of being a part of something greater. He taught members how to engage the minds and hearts of team members and create a self-sustaining energy in their organizations.
“Management is creating status quo and efficiency. Leadership is creating evolution and growth,” says Tom Flick.
Both Sunday and Monday evening, ALA created its own version of Nashville’s hotspot The Blue Bird Café; at ALA’s Blue Jay Café event attendees could enjoy some local music talent for a nominal entry fee benefiting Songs for Sound – a Nashville-based charity that provides resources for cochlear implants and rehabilitation, including speech/audiology services, to children in need regardless of race, religion or any other criteria.
Building on the momentum and success from this year’s conference, ALA announced its 2016 Annual Conference & Expo destination. Next year’s conference will take place May 22-25, 2016, at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.
