ALA Board of Directors Meeting

The Board of Directors is a group of twelve members charged with managing the activities, funds, membership, property and programs of the Association. They have four stand-alone board meetings per year, in addition to meeting at the Association Leadership Institute, Annual Conference & Expo, and Chapter Leadership Institute.

Serving on the Board of Directors requires an average weekly commitment of approximately five hours as well as required attendance at quarterly Board meetings (typically a Friday-Saturday schedule). Board service also requires attendance at the week-long Annual Educational Conference including pre- and post-conference meetings (held in April or May), Association Leadership Institute (a Friday-Saturday meeting in the first quarter of the year), and a Chapter Leadership Institute (held in June or July). Most Directors have additional travel commitments such as attendance at ALA Regional Legal Management Conferences and occasional chapter visits as requested.
