Leading the Association and serving as President for 2018-19 is April Campbell, JD, Director of Administration for McCullough Hill Leary, PS in Seattle, Washington. Gary Swisher II, CLM, from Clark Partington in Pensacola, Florida, will continue his service as Past President of the Board.

This year, the new Board and the rest of the Association will continue to make progress in the Strategic Plan and its goal of Elevating ALA for its nearly 8,000 members and 91 chapters. Among the initiatives in progress are measures to expand the reach of the Certified Legal Manager (CLM)® program, which helps legal management professionals demonstrate their mastery of essential legal management skills. ALA will work with existing CLMs to determine what they need from the program and how it has impacted their career; more and more industry peers will become aware of the certification; and early-career managers will gain a pathway to certification.
ALA also participated in the Global Legal Hackathon, building a time-capturing tool called Lexi that utilizes the Uniform Process Based Management System (UPBMS) code set; we will continue to promote its use through our partnerships with other associations and consortiums.
