ALA Announces Resignation of Executive Director

(Chicago, IL) March 29, 2022 – The Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) announced that April L. Campbell, JD, has resigned as its Executive Director. She will be returning to the private legal industry. The Board of Directors accepted her resignation, and her last day with ALA will be April 22.

“We appreciate April for her leadership during the pandemic and the implementation of tactics to ensure the success of ALA’s strategic direction. We wish April well in her future endeavors and look forward to continuing to benefit from April’s participation in ALA as a lifetime member and Past President,” said ALA President Michael T. Bumgarner, CLM, CPA, CGMA.

Campbell was the first woman to serve in the role of Executive Director, having led the organization in January 2020 as Interim Executive Director. She was later appointed full-time Executive Director in August 2020.

“It has been a privilege to lead this Association as a Past President and Executive Director,” said Campbell. “My strong affection for the ALA community continues. I am confident the Association is in steady hands with such passionate members, a dedicated headquarters staff, a resolute Board of Directors and an engaged community of business partners.”

The Board is currently discussing options to appoint new leadership.

“As we work through this transition, we are confident that the combination of our volunteer leaders, professional staff and business partners will continue delivering the exceptional knowledge, networking and resources that our members and the entire legal management community expect,” added Bumgarner. “On behalf of the Board and the ALA community, we thank April for the passion, dedication, strategy and energy she brought to this role. We are a better Association as a result.”
