New Trustees to Join Foundation Board
The Foundation of the Association of Legal Administrators has been around for more than 30 years, supporting goals and projects that help to advance the legal management profession. In April, the Foundation will be joined by two new trustees: Annette Ross from the Silicon Valley Chapter and former ALA President Rita Alli from the Puget Sound Chapter. Both of these women will officially begin their terms at the 2013 Annual Conference & Exposition.

The Foundation of the Association of Legal Administrators is the charitable, educational and research affiliate of ALA. Through grantmaking, programs and sponsorship, they support grassroots efforts within the Association to improve the profession of legal management. Among these efforts is the David W. Brezina session at the ALA Annual Conference & Exposition — a session sponsored annually by the Foundation. For more information, visit the sites below:

Update from the LFA Retreat Education Planning Committee
The Retreat Education Planning Committee of the Large Firm Administrators (LFA) Caucus has been working diligently on the 2013 Large Firm Principal Administrators Retreat, which takes place September 26-28 at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale in Arizona.

In December, the Education Planning Committee and the LFA Caucus Steering Committee held a joint meeting with ALA staff to discuss the overall strategic direction of the LFA Caucus and to ensure that the annual retreat is properly aligned with those objectives.

The educational program at last year's retreat dove deeply into enhancing a specific and essential skill — influence. Those in attendance gained new personal insights and identified practical ways to hone this important skill as a key mechanism for driving performance in their respective firms. Our aim is to make the educational experience at this year's retreat equally rigorous and personally fulfilling by continuing to improve upon the skills necessary to succeed in our profession. In addition to skill development, this year's retreat, like those before it, will incorporate numerous opportunities for networking among peers as well as structured times for exchanging ideas and best practices.

As always, the more of our peers who attend the retreat, the richer the experience. We encourage all of our large firm colleagues to add this event to your calendars! Our annual LFA Retreat presents the perfect format for networking with peers who are the most influential law firm executives. Please watch for additional information about the specific retreat agenda.

The Retreat Education Planning Committee of the LFA Caucus is comprised of the following members:

COO, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC
    Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

  • Dan Anderson

If you have questions or would like to share comments that you believe will enhance the educational and social experience among the Caucus, please contact Pam Stong at ALA headquarters or Nolan Kurtz.
