ALA Chapters
by Region
Chapters are important components of ALA's
structure. With one exception, chapters are organized and operate on a state,
provincial or local basis to advance ALA's mission and goals. The exception is
the Cyber Chapter, which operates in cyberspace and therefore has no
geographical boundaries. ALA members from anywhere in the world may join and
participate in the Cyber Chapter's electronic (online) meetings. ALA members
may belong to one or more chapters — or none. When members belong to more than
one chapter, they must designate a particular one as their primary
affiliation. Prospective members requiring more specific information
should call Member Services at ALA Headquarters, (847) 267-1252.
A number of chapters have developed their own
Web sites in accordance with Guidelines established by ALA. Chapters with
approved Web sites are underlined in the listing below and clicking on the
chapter name will take you directly to that chapter's Web site. For
a complete, alphabetical listing, see ALA
Chapter Web Sites.
