NASBA approves CPE credit for accountants in twenty-three subject matter areas representing the primary knowledge and skill areas needed by accounting licensees to perform professional services: Accounting, Accounting (Governmental), Auditing, Auditing (Governmental), Administrative Practice, Social Environment of Business, Regulatory Ethics, Business Law, Business Management and Organization, Finance, Management Advisory Services, Marketing, Behavioral Ethics, Communications, Personal Development, Personnel/HR, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Production, Specialized Knowledge and Applications, Statistics, and Taxes.
The fields of study covered in this program include: Business Management and Organization; Finance; Personnel/HR; Specialized Knowledge and Applications; and Personal Development. The sessions to which these fields of study apply are identified on the Course Outline page of this brochure.
CPE Codes and Descriptions:
All CPE eligible courses within this program are at the basic level of instruction. Instructors use rich discussion and analysis processes to cover the essential skills required for effective job performance as a legal administrator. Prior to attending sessions, attendees need to complete online materials which are available at www.alanet.org/ecla.

The Essential Competencies for Legal Administrators (ECLA) program has been approved for 9.0 recertification credit hours toward the PHR and SPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). For Functional Specialists who need additional application requirements, or for those Recertifying, this program also offers:
- 4.5 hours of Finance
- 3 hours of Legal Industry
- 5.5 hours of Human Resources
Or subtract from the 5.5 hours: 1 hour Organizational Development and 1 hour Communication Skills that can be used towards fulfilling the General Eligibility Requirements.
