Post-conference Summary
There was, indeed, a "fiesta of educational opportunities" at the Region 4 Educational Conference & Exposition the first weekend in October.
The conference kicked off Thursday evening with a "Fiesta with Friends" Welcome Reception on San Antonio's famous Riverwalk, and we sampled the very best of Tex-Mex cuisine. It was a great chance to network with other attendees -- and one of main reasons legal administrators attend the Conference.
The Keynote Address on Friday morning was presented by Dr. Joseph Mancusi of the Center for Organizational Excellence, and it was fabulous. He spoke about emotional intelligence, or as he says, "Excuse Me, Your EQ is Showing." The variables involved in a person's emotional intelligence quotient (EQ) were discussed with an eye toward success in the legal workplace. Attendees took an EQ quiz, and the emotional intelligence (EI) results were summarized in the Closing Session Saturday morning.
With 17 educational sessions in just two days, attendees had a choice of topics in legal management, finance, human resources, office operations management, and even the best features of ExcelÒ for administrators in the legal industry. What was learned in theory on Friday was put into practice on Saturday.
By now attendees should be making a difference at their firm or organization. Thank you for attending.
