advancing knowledge, creating opportunities, touching lives

The Foundation of the Association of Legal Administrators is the charitable, educational and research affiliate of ALA. Through grantmaking, programs and sponsorship, we support grassroots efforts within the Association to improve the profession of legal management. Watch the video for more information about the Foundation.

The Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the Association of Legal Administrators is pleased to announce two new initiatives in 2013.

Legal Services Corporation (LSC) Project

The Foundation offers paid Association dues to those working in legal management positions in non-profit organizations providing legal services to the working poor. This will provide a segment of our profession - those who serve the working poor and do not have funds to cover ALA membership - with the valuable resources, networking and education they need to enhance their professional development. The project also provides our members, whether chapter members or independent members, the opportunity to participate in Pro Bono activities similar to those in which attorneys volunteer. For more information about the LSC Project or to see if you qualify for paid ALA membership contact Leslie Bowles. To hear more about the program watch the video. The Susan French Emerging Leader Scholarship Fund
Established by GLJ Benefit Consultants

The Susan French Emerging Leader Scholarship Fund was established by GLJ Benefit Consultants in memory of former ALA President Susan L. French. The fund was established in recognition of Susan's commitment to professionalism, dedication to the advancement of law firm administration, development of future leaders and record of long-term service to the Association of Legal Administrators.

The scholarship fund will assist ALA members who want to develop their leadership skills through ALA's educational offerings such as the Chapter Leadership Institute. Please review The Susan French Emerging Leader Scholarship Fund Application for more information.

Make a Gift to the Foundation

The Mission of the Foundation is supported by personal, chapter and corporate contributions, testamentary gifts, and fundraising efforts such as the Foundation Silent Auction at the ALA Annual Conference. Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible and can be made in honor of a specific individual or chapter.

For questions or more information, please contact .

Thank You 2014 Silent Auction Donors and Winning Bidders

With the financial support from ALA chapters, individuals and business partners the Foundation helps leaders in the legal community marshal resources to create opportunities that support and improve the profession and practice of law. Thank you to our 2014 Silent Auction donors and winning bidders. Your support allows us to continue the advancement of the legal management profession.

Submit a Grant Proposal

The Chapter Challenge Grant Program provides funding to ALA chapters who develop and complete projects that result in products supporting the efforts of legal administrators and promote the legal management profession. The end result or "product" will then be available to other chapters, law firms and other legal organizations, individual ALA members, academic institutions, or other groups.

Please review the complete Chapter Challenge Program Details as well as the Grant Guidelines for more information.
