Tax Update: Where Are We and What Lies Ahead?

The tax environment continues to evolve in ways that can have a major impact on law firms, attorneys and other employees. In this session, a CPA with more than 30 years of tax planning and compliance experience will provide an overview of recent changes to tax laws that affect law firms and their employees, with an eye on scheduled and possible changes yet to come. Among the issues to be discussed are reasonable compensation for S and C corporation shareholders, Alternative Minimum Tax, use of independent contractors and much more.

Objectives:

  • Assess recently enacted tax law changes on the financial affairs of the law firm and its employees
  • Understand the growing influence of state and local taxes and the issues involved in doing business in multiple jurisdictions
  • Gain insights into how the Affordable Care Act will impact law firms
  • Determine common issues and tax traps for law firms

Audience: Attendees should have at least three years of experience and a working knowledge of current tax law.
