Community Service: IP Conference for Legal Management Professionals

Horton's Kids

As part of the ALA’s Intellectual Property Conference for Legal Professionals, we will hold a donation drive for Horton’s Kids. Horton’s Kids is a local nonprofit that empowers children growing up in one of Washington, D.C.’s most under-resourced communities so that they graduate from high school ready for success in college, career and life.

One of their most urgent needs is food for their emergency food pantry. Many of the 500 children who rely on Horton’s Kids live in families with incomes less than $10,000 a year. Too often, the financial burden of groceries is too great and existing food benefits don’t cover all needs. Furthermore, their neighborhood is located in a food desert. These barriers prevent kids from receiving enough food and/or proper nutrition.

Horton’s Kids operates a food pantry at their Community Resource Center, located just steps from where the children live. It’s the only safe, consistent, and accessible source of food in the neighborhood. The shelves need to be restocked with essential food and household items.

To donate, you can shop the Amazon Wish List: http://a.co/2K90NQ4 or drop off any of the following items at the conference from September 27-28. Thank you in advance for your support!
