Blogging is the new "It" marketing vehicle some businesses - even law firms - are adopting to communicate with their clients and the public. Maybe you have heard of it but aren't exactly sure what it is. Or, you know about Blogging but you have concerns about its place in your law firm. Do you wonder if there are policies and procedures that should be adopted? Blogging can be a terrific way to keep open communications with your clients, provide useful advice on important issues, or establish a lawyer as an expert spokesperson on his or her specialty. But what type of impact can Blogging have on your firm and what are the legal ramifications? Join Ernest Svenson and Kevin O'Keefe as they walk you through the world of Blogging and help you understand its pros and cons as well as what your role as administrator should be when a Blog from someone at your firm shows up on the Internet. By the end of the session, participants should be able to:
- Define blogging;
- Summarize how lawyers and law firms use blogs;
- Identify the impact blogging can have on a firm;
- Identify and analyze the potential advantages and disadvantages of blogging for a firm and/or individual lawyers;
- Recognize, generally, applicable legal concerns involved in blogging;
- Design a strategy involving blogging for the law firm; and
- Write an appropriate law firm policy regarding individual lawyer blogging.
