Important developments occur in employment law every year. This timely session will
explore a wide range of employment matters to bring you up-to-date on current issues.
Learn about some of the more challenging employment issues facing law firm professionals
today, including immigration, wage and hour issues, the challenges of an aging workforce,
mental disabilities in the workplace, leave issues (including the Family and Medical Leave Act
and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act), technology in the
workplace, employee privacy issues and steps to avoid being the defendant in a class action
lawsuit. After this session participants should be able to:
- Identify the new employment issues that could impact their firms
- Construct a plan for monitoring their workforce in relation to employment law issues
- Explain to partners and staff the importance of staying up-to-date on employment laws
Speakers:
Thomas E.J. (Tobie) Hazard is a partner in the Denver office of Holland & Hart LLP. His
practice includes defending management in employment litigation; wage and hour matters;
employee benefits and compensation; workplace torts and wrongful discharge claims.
Hazard has helped large and small companies minimize the risk of employment-related litigation.
Christopher L. Thomas is a partner in the Denver office of Holland & Hart LLP. He has extensive
experience in employment-based immigration law and manages the firm’s immigration practice.
Thomas also advises and represents companies in the preparation of employment-based
nonimmigrant petitions (e.g., B, E, H, L, O, P, R, and TN petitions), labor certification applications
(PERM), immigrant petitions (all preference categories), and adjustment of status and consular
processing applications.
This webinar qualifies toward two hours of Human Resources for Recertification and the 15
additional hours required for the initial application of Functional Specialists in the category of Human
Resources (HR).
