As a result, we launched the ALA Diversity Initiative, which is designed to increase awareness of and sensitivity to the differences among our workforce and to advance the concepts of inclusiveness and acceptance. To help meet these goals, ALA has created leadership panels, educational programs and the new Diversity and Inclusion Scorecard - Roadmap to Change for Law Firms and ALA Chapters.

ALA Diversity and Inclusion Scorecard – Roadmap to Change for Law Office Administrators and ALA Chapter Leaders

Measuring the Impact of ALA Chapters and Workplaces on Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession

The ALA Committee on Diversity and Inclusion developed the ALA Diversity and Inclusion Scorecard – Roadmap to Change as a means to understand and to recognize success in workplace diversity and inclusion. Members of the Committee presented a session during ALA's 2013 Annual Conference & Exposition and two sessions during ALA's 2013 Chapter Leadership Institute.

When legal professionals talk about achieving greater diversity and inclusion, what does that mean? Have you wondered how your firm or chapter's efforts compare to others? Have you wanted to start a diversity and inclusion effort, but do not know where to start? The ALA Diversity & Inclusion Scorecard – Roadmap to Change is a resource that will assist those who have had a diversity and inclusion program and those wanting to start one.

The latest version of the Chapter Scorecard is now available, and the Committee is now looking for Chapters to be part of the initial group to use it. The Law Firm Scorecard is also in development and slated for rollout later in 2014.

Committee Mission

The ALA Committee on Diversity & Inclusion is dedicated to providing each ALA member with the tools and resources required to be a leader in meeting ALA's goal to "increase diversity and inclusion in the Association, in the legal management community and in all legal service organizations." We are working and living in a sea of change.
