Our goal is to increase diversity in the Association,
in the legal management community and in all legal service organizations.
As a result, we launched the ALA Diversity Initiative - designed to increase awareness of and
sensitivity to the differences among our workforce and to advance the concepts of inclusiveness and
acceptance. To meet these goals ALA has created leadership panels, educational venues and programs.
The Committee on Diversity and Inclusion oversees ALA's Diversity Initiative. For more information contact us.

ALA Diversity and Inclusion Scorecard Roadmap to Change for Law Office Administrators and ALA Chapter Leaders
Measuring the Impact of ALA Chapters and Workplaces on Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession
When the legal profession talks about achieving greater diversity and inclusion, what does that mean? Have you wondered how your firm or chapter's
efforts compare to others? Have you wanted to start a diversity and inclusion effort, but don’t know where to start? The ALA Diversity & Inclusion
Scorecard Roadmap to Change is a resource that will assist those who have had a diversity and inclusion program and also those wanting to start one.
We want to ask all ALA members to be part of the public comment period before the actual Scorecard is implemented.
The ALA Committee on Diversity and Inclusion developed the Scorecard as a means to understand and to recognize success in workplace diversity and
inclusion. The comment period is meant to fine-tune the scorecard so it is a useful tool for law firms and ALA Chapters.
Any member of the legal profession and Chapter affiliate is encouraged to participate in the comment period. All individual answers are completely
anonymous and will remain confidential. The comment period will remain open until June 15, 2013. Once the comment period is over, we will publish the final
schedule for ALA Members to complete a Scorecard for their firms and for Chapter Leaders to complete one for their chapters.
Download the Scorecard. At the end of each section you will find a Comments box. Once you've added your comments to the sections you want, save a copy of the form and email it to mgarcia@alanet.org.

Committee Update
The ALA Committee on Diversity and Inclusion is excited to have
released the new ALA Diversity and Inclusion Scorecard Roadmap to Change for Law Office Administrators and ALA Chapter Leaders. While it's
only a comment period until June 15, we are anxiously awaiting the final release of this monumental diversity and inclusion measurement.
The committee is eager to be on the forefront of creating a standard of measurement for law firms and ALA chapters with regard to diversity and
inclusion. We are hopeful this scorecard will help to instill a spirit of accountability while providing the much needed educational components to
begin to guide firms and administrators along the paths to a successful diversity and inclusion program.
The committee looks forward to the opportunity to speak at the Chapter Leadership Institute (CLI) in July as we discuss how far we have come, and
how much further we have to go on the path to a successful D&I program! With the ALA Diversity and Inclusion Scorecard Roadmap to Change for
Law Office Administrators and ALA Chapter Leaders, we are confident that it will be an exhilarating ride!
