At this year's Welcome Reception: "Get Jazzed!" you'll have the opportunity to join your friends and colleagues as we mark the beginning of the 2009 ALA Annual Conference and celebrate the charm and culture of New Orleans.

You'll "get jazzed" as you savor the "Taste of New Orleans" hors d'oeuvre buffet (featuring a culinary fusion blending cross cultural flavors of Cajun, Creole, Spanish, French).Be sure to leave room for the New Orleans famous decadent dessert … featuring a presentation like you've never seen before.

As you enter the party, the music of Dr. Jazz & the New Orleans Sounds will fill the ballroom. The band is known for their original musical style called "smooth jazz"-a blend of traditional Dixieland jazz mixed with a romantic touch.

As the party progresses, you'll be on your feet dancing to the music of Stormy the Band the hottest and most versatile band in the South. Their song list includes dance music from the '40s to the '90s and most requests-from country, rock, soul, funk, R&B, and big band. The band's goal is to make you have as much fun as they do.

Registration and ticket are required. The Welcome Reception is included in the registration fee. You must check the "Attend" box on the Conference Registration Form to obtain a ticket. The ticket includes the "Taste of New Orleans" hors d'oeuvre buffet, one beverage coupon (additional beverages available on a cash basis throughout the evening), entertainment, dancing, and a lot of fun!
